What I'm hungry to understand

I want to understand how cells build and maintain tissues and organisms. I do not see cells as machines: they possess agency, sensing their surroundings, integrating information and acting to reshape themselves and their environment. I want to discover what drives these decisions, how they are coordinated across tissues and how they become disrupted in disease.

How I got here

After completing my BSc at Durham University, I undertook my PhD with Brian Stramer at King’s College London and postdoctoral research with Nic Tapon at the Francis Crick Institute. I joined the University of Manchester in 2022 to establish the Hungry Tissue Lab.
